Episode 07: Fatima (The Arch Angel)Kline

AAAAAND in this Corner!... The Rise of MMA Fighter Fatima Kline

Reel Scene Sports Media had the wonderful opportunity to meet and interview 20-year-old Jiu Jitsu instructor and Professional MMA fighting tactician Ms. Fatima (The Archangel) Kline at Black Hole’s Wappingers Falls, NY location. Fatima is an up-and-coming rising star in the world of Women’s MMA fighting. Her talent, skills, relentless work ethic, and determination have garnered her a professional contract signing with Invicta Fighting Championships in 2020. Invicta is an all-pro MMA fighting organization founded in 2012 dedicated to furthering women’s mixed martial arts and providing a broad platform for women to shine and be recognized in the sport.

At just 20 years old, Fatima has already been practicing Jiu Jitsu for 10 years. Coming from an athletic family, Jiu Jitsu came naturally to her as competition and sports were just the norm in the Kline household. Over the years Fatima has developed a love for the art and finds joy in developing and honing her fighting skills.

Fatima graciously shares her skills, techniques, and expertise that she has developed over the years with younger Jiu Jitsu students at the Black Hole school. Her classes consist of basic take-down techniques, grappling, and submission holds. She finds joy in seeing the student’s progression over time and is even more elated to see their self-confidence grow as individuals. Fatima feels that being a child Jiu Jitsu Student herself at one time really helps her relate to the kids and enhances their learning experience even more.

One of the many unique aspects about Fatima as a fighter is the fact that she trains in multiple fighting disciplines which allows her the ability to dominate her opponent regardless of what fighting style they decide to use against her. Included in her rigorous training regiment are boxing, Jiu Jitsu (of course!), wrestling, striking, Moy Tai, and MMA. As if this training schedule wasn’t demanding enough, let’s add in a healthy dose of running and weightlifting for good measure. With all this training being done six days per week, at eight hours per day, it should be no surprise to anyone why Fatima is in optimal physical condition and is able to compete at the highest levels.

Fatima doesn’t find her training and conditioning to be her biggest challenge. As strenuous and taxing as her physical training is, she feels that the real challenge in MMA is the mental aspect. Fatima stated that the sport is mentally demanding, and one must truly train him/herself to be “mentally tough” to succeed in the sport. Fatima does this by remaining focused on her ultimate goals and understanding that whatever challenges she faces can be overcome through willpower and consistent resilience. This laser-like focus, positive attitude, and ability to maintain a healthy degree of self-confidence helps Fatima defeat any mental challenges that dare creep in. Fatima attributes her successes to her family, Coach Mike Wacker, and the team around her at the Black Hole Jiu Jitsu School. Her support network is very precious to her and gives her the strength she needs to continue. Ultimately Fatima stated that she draws her greatest inspiration from God.

Some of her recent accomplishments include making the finals in both the 145lb AND 125lb division in an MMA amateur tournament in California and ultimately winning the title in the 145lb division. Most recently at the Invicta Fighting Championships in Kansa City MO, Fatima won her Pro debut match in round 1 in just over three minutes by submission against a well-known MMA fighter Ariana Melendez in the Strawweight division! She is well on her way to a bright MMA career. Fatima’s future goals are to continue to make a name for herself in women’s MMA, winning the 115lb UFC championship, and ultimately be known as the number one female fighter in MMA.

To all MMA and Jiu Jitsu fans out there, you are hereby notified; Look out for Fatima “The Archangel” Kline because she is on the rise!
